Angie Mattson - Hiding Cards

Sidewalk cracks beneath my feet
all this weight you left on me
and memories to fill these city streets
cold and wet surrounding me
a taste so rich it makes me ache
hungover from heartbreak

but you won't buy what I'm selling you
won't look further than you have to
it's not what your used to
no use hiding cards in your sleeves
I can see them there quite clearly
their faces turn away from me

It's a matter of crime this time
when you take and you take and you feel just fine
it's coming around you should see it now
the path you left is burning down
but there's nothing there you'll miss
how do you live your life like this

and you won't buy what I'm selling you
won't look further than you have to
it's not what your used to
no use hiding cards in your sleeves
I can see them ther quite clearly
their faces turn away from me

and it feels like it's been years
but it's only been a miniute since you lied
I could see it in the movements of your eyes
now my bones lay in your fire
and your words are stained
and it stings when you call my name
in the wake from the waves of your wonderful shame

and you won't buy what I'm selling you
won't look further than you have to
it's not what your used to, oh no
no use hiding cards in your sleeves
I could always see them there
turning away, turning away from me.
